LINDEN, NJ — In a united front against human trafficking, the New Jersey State Police Human Trafficking Unit, in collaboration with the Linden Police Department and Mantua Township Police Department, successfully participated in “Operation Coast to Coast”, a nationwide initiative focused on rescuing victims and dismantling trafficking networks.

The operation took place on May 29, 2025, at a motel in Linden, where authorities rescued four victims and arrested one individual on charges related to prostitution.

What Is Operation Coast to Coast?

Operation Coast to Coast was launched in 2024 by the Human Trafficking Training Center and partner organizations. The initiative aims to foster a coordinated national response to human trafficking through law enforcement collaboration, victim-centered intervention, and awareness campaigns.

This year’s nationwide operation spanned 19 states, resulting in:

  • 88 victims recovered

  • 74 individuals arrested

  • Victims connected with essential support services like housing, counseling, and medical care

Human Trafficking in New Jersey

The operation in Linden highlights the ongoing threat of human trafficking in New Jersey, where motels and temporary housing are often used as hubs for illicit activity. The New Jersey State Police Human Trafficking Unit, supported by local agencies, plays a vital role in identifying and rescuing victims while holding perpetrators accountable.

By combining specialized training, victim advocacy, and inter-agency collaboration, authorities were able to not only intervene in criminal activity but also offer survivors a path to recovery.

Why It Matters

This successful operation serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of local, state, and national coordination in the fight against human trafficking. It also reflects a growing emphasis on trauma-informed care, ensuring survivors are met with compassion, resources, and long-term support.
