As America prepares to celebrate its 239th birthday this Saturday, YouGov compiled a ‘State of the States’, asking Americans how they feel about each and every state that forms our country.

  1. The NJ district is connected to the busiest hub in the country and is closest to us in our Village.

  2. NJ is synonymous with corruption and the classic perp walk of handcuffed politicians.

  3. NJ has long been the butt of jokes by comedians, including those with enormous national audiences on late-night talk shows, and in movies and plays, including shows seen by millions, such as “Annie,” as well as being a seat of corruption perhaps second only to Washington, DC, at least in the USA. Our current governor has done his duty in this long line of ridicule.

  4. Not much different than many other states, especially when it comes to corruption.

  5. I think many outsiders think of pollution and toxic waste dumps.

Family and friends were in shock when we moved from NYS 25 years ago. They still see Ridgewood as a step down.

  6. To heck with them. NJ is just fine.

  7. 11:08…stop calling it a village…its not and never has been you has been.
    2:12 there’s a big difference….jersey is a shithole and you know it.
And 4:32 you are absolutely correct….a BIG step down.

  8. Who gives a shit what NYC liberal elitists think

  9. 2:12 pm, “not much different than many other states… when it comes to corruption”? Are you serious? NJ politicians and union thugs have redefined corruption. Despite the highest combined state income and local property taxes in the land, the goons in Trenton have rung up a $200 BILLION unpaid credit card bill for our kids and grandkids to pay for, and they still want to keep funneling even more tax dollars to feed the beast they’ve created. It’s why the state is ridiculed, it’s why we have net emigration out of the state, it’s why business are packing their bags and leaving. And you think all is fine because NJ is “no worse”? Nice benchmark you have.
