New Jersey Transit Police arrest woman for assault on train crew and police officer

Secaucus NJ, The New Jersey Transit Police have arrested Kidada Ferguson, 19, of Manhattan, N.Y. at the Frank R. Lautenberg Secaucus Junction Train Station.

On Wednesday, September 25th, at 12:48 a.m. Officer Victor Ortiz responded to a report of an unruly passenger on board train #6201. During the investigation, Kidada Ferguson struck Officer Ortiz in the face, spit on him and assaulted a train crew member.

Kidada Ferguson was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, interference with transportation, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct. She was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.

The safety of NJ Transit customers, employees and police is our top priority. The swift arrest in this case should remind anyone intending to harm a train crew member, police officer or bus operator that you will be caught and held accountable.
