Newark NJ, The New Jersey Transit Police Department successfully reunited a teenage girl, missing for more than a month, with her family earlier this week.

16-year-old Brooklynn Hays of Maryland had been missing since she left home after an argument on Sunday, September 30.

On November 6th, New Jersey Transit Police Officer Colleen Hilton recognized Hays on a missing persons bulletin as someone she had recently seen at Newark Penn Station. Shortly before midnight, Officer Hilton spotted Hays again in the station and quickly spoke with her.

The girl’s mother traveled to Newark Penn from Maryland, and the two were reunited during the early hours of November 7.

“The New Jersey Transit Police work hand-in-hand with all of our partners on a variety of cases. I’m very proud that one of my officers was able to use the training and skills she was taught and help solve this missing persons case,’’ said NJTPD Chief Christopher Trucillo.’’
