The Race Against the Flames

The initial reports reaching the New Milford Fire Department indicated the vehicle was smoking and the occupant was unconscious. However, as Chief 30 and Engine 32 rapidly mobilized, an urgent update came from the New Milford Police Department (NMPD): the car was now actively on fire.

In a display of extraordinary courage, New Milford Police officers, upon arrival, immediately recognized the impending danger and initiated an immediate rescue.

“Thanks to the quick action of the Police officers the occupant was removed just before the car became fully engulfed in fire—surely saving the occupant’s life.”

The rescue was completed mere seconds before the car was consumed by flames, highlighting the razor-thin margin between life and tragedy.

Firefighters Secure the Scene

With the victim safely removed, the New Milford Volunteer Fire Department took over the scene. Police also swiftly evacuated the nearest home as a precautionary measure due to the intensity of the car fire.

Engine 32’s crew quickly went to work, executing a “quick knock” on the blaze. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and secured the remains of the vehicle for towing.

Fortunately, the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, a miraculous outcome given the severity of the incident. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the NMPD.
