Paramus NJ, a Newark man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly breaking into a Paramus home where his girlfriend and four children were staying, causing extensive damage inside the residence.
Jerry Green, 38, now faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest, according to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti.
The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. when the woman, along with the four children, managed to flee the home and call 911. Green had reportedly broken into the house and begun destroying property.
“The call involved her boyfriend, who had forcibly entered the home where she and her four children were staying,” Chief Guidetti said in a press release.
Armed with a stick, Green caused significant damage inside the home, including ripping a cable box off the television. When officers arrived on the scene, they treated the situation as a barricaded subject incident and immediately deployed the Paramus Emergency Services Unit (ESU).
For two hours, police attempted to negotiate with Green to surrender, but they received no response. Eventually, Green was taken into custody and transported to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits a bail hearing.
