>What?
>Let’s be very very very careful about selecting her replacement. The TERC imbroglio has taught us all how powerful and potentially devisive this position has become. Mrs. G, are you busy?
>Hey Baby, hey!
One down, one to go!!!!
Make sure to sign up for the focus group lottery. Let’s kill this TERC/Everyday Math/CMP2 for GOOD!
Is the writing now on the wall for Botsford?
>”Let’s be very very very careful about selecting her replacement.”
I believe this position was created for Deb Ives and does not need to be filled. As evident by the collge list below of non-TERC babies going off to college… Ridgewood 6-12 has been doing it right and doesn’t need to be changed.
>Ridgewood 6-12 has been doing it right and doesn’t need to be changed.
IT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO CMP2 SINCE 06-07 school year (6th grade CMP2).
07-08 has 7th grade CMP2.
Time to kill the CMP2 experiment. Stop cutting strips of paper to “discover” fractions.
>This is a confusing post…Ives is gone…but is Brennan out too….?
>No. Brennan is not out. The post was a snippet from the BOE Agenda, which showed that Brennan will be the one speaking on the topic of Dr. Ive’s resignation.
The BOE Agendas, taken out of context, always look odd.
To see the BOE Agenda, go to the district’s web site, click on Board of Ed, click on agendas, and click on the one for the 17th.
>Call me a softy, but it’s kind of sad, too.
But this could lead Dr. Ives to a fresh start somewhere else, perhaps with a more open mind (well, okay, and a personality makeover.)
I hate to see anybody lose their job, but Ridgewood desperately needed this shaking up. It’s going to be good for everybody in the long run.
Hopefully the defensiveness in our administration is at last falling away, and we’ll see a new, more open-minded, Regina Botsford.
That’s my prediction. I think RB is staying, and I think it could be okay.
Dr. Brennan rules with a tight grip and a big smile. There’s no question who’s in charge. And as far as I can see, he has his priorities straight.
>DISTRICT POSITION

4. Minimum of five years teaching experience in mathematics
5. Knowledge of technology in math education
>PJs post is confusing. Brennan will announce and accept Dr. Ives resignation at the BOE meeting.
>9:15pm
It’s just his item on the BOE agenda. Thankfully we have Dr. Brennen for a while more. He’s a breath of fresh air.
>Brennan is merely announcing her resignation. She was brought here to align our entire 6-12 mathematics instruction to suit the reformist math persuasion.
Now that is CLEAR that knowledgeable parents DON’T WANT THAT, she is not needed. She also alienated virtually every parents she came in contact with.
Botsford has a problem because unless she can show some competency in choosing curriculum that is not DEAD ON ARRIVAL, she must go too.
She should go anyway because of her dogged defense of TERC and refusal to recommend its removal from Orchard and Travell.
>This is very good news – but do we know why she decided to resign now?
>now that ives is going can cmp2 go with her?
>I’ll never forget the time my middle schooler who had ives came home and said she insisted that we all call her “Dr.” Ives. I said, does she have a PhD? The answer is no. Pompous and arrogant she is. I’m glad she will soon be a past tense.
>This is a very confusing post PJ. No, Tim Brennan has not turned in his resignation. Yes, Deborah Ives is leaving!!
So looooooooong, Deborah Ives. Maybe in the near future we can say the same to Regina Botsford.
>Another one bites the dust.
>It’s possible she was fired, but with an agreement that she wouldn’t sue the district, and they would say she resigned. That way, she can start over somewhere else with a clean slate.
Happens all the time.
This is mere speculation, of course. But resigning mid-year is a bit unusual.
Maybe she got caught big-time in one of her lies.
>I couldn’t agree more with that last statement – it seems that she was expert at lies and fabrications…maybe someone higher up finally discovered this to be true? I can’t imagine that she willingly resigned…she seemed to enjoy her position of power over students and parents. I think it’s sad for anyone to lose a job, but this one was a no brainer.
>I caught her in a lie too. why do they do that?
Is it part of education school training?
>Sure this is good news but it is also disappointing that Regina is not going with her. She’s the one forcing TERC onto the pristine brains of our youngest children.
>Does anyone know why she resigned? Is there an inside scoop?
>She resigned because it was in the natural course of events.
Ridgewood may be turning a corner.
>We still have to remember that by the time our kids get to the sixth grade they already have minds made out of mathematical mush. We must keep insisting that the entire TERC/CMP curriculum be ousted from our schools. Also, by the sixth grade, our sons have had six years of sexist reading that regards males as nonentities.
>Hey James- could you possibly remind readers of the Blog that Monday is our presentation at BF? Thank you for all of your help!! Wish us luck!
-stopvalley.com webmasters
As a reminder, StopValley.com will be presenting its case to the Ridgewood Planning Board on Monday night at 7:30pm in the auditorium at Ben Franklin. Valley has sent out plenty of letters requesting additional attendance at the presentation- so if you support STOPVALLEY.com please be sure to make an effort to be there!
>Given her track record I don’t see how she could have survived serving two principals with unquestioned integrity, namely katie kashmanian and jack lorenz. She only made their jobs that much harder and left gaping holes in her math teaching of students.
>Did anyone attend last week’s BOE meeting (the one held at the high school?)
If so, aside from the discussions about Orchard, was math discussed? Please fill us in.
>What I really hate about the education business is that no matter how bad someone is at their job, they get a glowing review when they’re forced out. Watch at Monday’s boe meeting as Brennan will be forced to say the most flattering things (read: lies) declaring how terrific and wonderful Ives was. This kind of baloney is sickening. When they are using our money to do it, it is downright depressing. Can’t she just leave quietly?
>9:24am …
imagine if BOE’s learned to GOOGLE … they could find various information about future candidates and then ask the tough questions in an interview rather than just rubber stamping a candidate based upon some “search firm”
>All the more reason to encourage web-savvy folks to run for the BOE. It really is a different world today. They can reduce mistakes by doing simple searches.
Plainview-Old Bethpage now has three new members on their Board.
>Word on the street is that Dr. Ives left to take a job in Livingston.
>Doing recon for TERC/CMP/MSU and Pearson? Now Livingston has to have all the male children sacrificed.
>Seriously, does anyone feel we have an obligation to warn the Livingston school board about this woman? I for one don’t trust her at all, and I worry for the students (particularly male) who she will be evaluating in that district. Not to mention worrying about the parents who she will be interacting with (or failing to communicate/answer phone calls/answer emails)….what a horror!
