Englewood NJ, A recent lawsuit filed in Bergen County, New Jersey, has brought to light a contentious incident at Englewood Health, sparking a debate about professional conduct, freedom of speech, and accountability in the workplace.
The lawsuit was filed by Lexi Kuenzle, a nurse who claims she was wrongly suspended without pay after confronting a surgeon, Dr. Matthew Jung, for his alleged comments regarding the assassination of conservative pundit Charlie Kirk.
The Allegations: A Vile Exchange at a Nurses’ Station
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred as news of Kirk’s death broke. In a nurses’ station, with other staff and a patient present, Kuenzle expressed sadness over the news. Dr. Jung, a bariatric surgeon, allegedly responded with a jarring statement, saying he “hated Charlie Kirk” and that the pundit “had it coming” and “deserved it.”
Kuenzle, a Christian, was stunned by the remarks. “You’re a doctor. How could you say someone deserved to die?” she reportedly replied. Her lawsuit argues that such a statement from a medical professional violates the core tenets of the Hippocratic Oath and the American Medical Association’s Code of Medical Ethics, which emphasize a commitment to preventing harm and injustice.
The Fallout: Suspension, Not Termination?
Kuenzle claims she immediately reported the incident to management and later posted about it on her personal Instagram account. The following day, she was called into a meeting and, according to the lawsuit, was suspended without pay and told to look for a new job.
However, Englewood Health has offered a different account. In a statement, the hospital confirmed that both the doctor and the nurse were placed on suspension to allow for a “thorough and fair investigation.” The hospital also clarified that Kuenzle was “not fired” and that any suggestions that she seek other employment were not official statements from Englewood Health.
This case raises critical questions about how institutions handle internal conflicts, especially when they involve sensitive and highly charged political issues. It also highlights the challenges employees face when they speak out against a colleague’s behavior, particularly when they feel it violates professional ethics. As the investigation continues, many will be watching to see how Englewood Health navigates this complex issue.

We need more women like this to make the world a better place
To the hospital; there’s no conflict here. That doctor took the hypocrite oath to do no harm. He violated that oath. Millions of people throughout the world are grieving over this senseless obscene, violent political assassination. This surgeon and his political opinions has no place in your organization or in healthcare whatsoever. Instead of investigating the nurse, your staff should be celebrated for protecting patient safety and the hospital’s reputation.
I’ll be sure to let all my New Jersey relatives know to avoid your establishment.
Her feelings were hurt?
He resigned in advance if being fired!
And she has been “reinstated.”
We’ll see how that goes. And maybe the next lawsuit.
Dick.
It’s not about her feelings. It’s about certain moral and ethical expectations in the workplace not being met. He’s a surgeon . He operates on bodies. He should know better to keep his mouth shut if he felt that way, but considering it came out at work is even more credible evidence of this guy not being a decent man
She was obviously looking for her 15 seconds of fame. Saw the blond twit on Fox News. That says it all. I have heard plenty of people state their opinion about a lot of topics in the workplace. No one had to quit or be fired for it. Grow up. Next thing you know, she will be on reality TV. Just watch.
Godless people can believe think whatever they want but when they cross the line we’re calling them out. 2020 democrat played book flipped script. We’re not dealing with the bs no more. I call it how I see it
