Bernards Township NJ, NJ State Police Seeking Public’s Assistance with Animal Cruelty Investigation. The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in an animal cruelty investigation that occurred on I-287 North, near milepost 25 in Bernards Township, Somerset County.
On April 16, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a suspicious package located on the right shoulder of I-287. Upon arrival, troopers recovered a large green “Retriever” brand dog food bag containing the remains of a deceased black canine. Detectives believe the bag was discarded sometime between 10:00 p.m. on April 15 and 10:00 a.m. on April 16.
