Newark NJ, NJ Transit Police officers located and captured a man armed with a handgun, stun gun and knife.
The New Jersey Transit Police have arrested Qudamah Hamilton, 34, of Brooklyn NY for charges including possession of a stolen firearm and resisting arrest.
On Thursday April 18th, at approximately 1200 p.m. New Jersey Transit Police Officer David Osterhoudt relayed radio information from Newark PD describing Hamilton being wanted for aggravated assault, domestic violence. Hamilton was reported to be armed and heading towards Newark Penn Station via light rail vehicle. NJTPD Officer Todd Hardifer managed to spot Hamilton on board a moving light rail vehicle headed to Penn Station. Officer Hardifer radioed ahead, providing Hamilton’s description and car number.
NJTPD District 2 Officers Joseph McKevitt, Jovani Ramos, Joseph Ragazzo, Jermaine Johnson, Paul Gibilisco, Sgt. Mary Minoughan, K9 Officer Christopher Hensle, ESU Officer Daniel Quigley and ESU Officer Mark Colon prepared to encounter Hamilton at Newark Penn Station. When the light rail vehicle arrived, Hamilton showed visible indicators he was likely concealing a weapon and he refused to comply with officers’ commands. NJTPD Officers subsequently converged on Hamilton and after a struggle, successfully restrained him. Concealed in Hamilton’s pocket was a loaded 40 caliber handgun with a round in the chamber. Further investigation revealed Hamilton was in possession of a stun gun and knife.
Charges are mere accusations and the accused is innocent until proven guilty.
