Hackensack NJ, New Jersey Transit train on the Pascack Valley Line struck and killed a man near the Clinton Place crossing in Hackensack on the morning of May 22, according to NJ Transit officials.
The tragic incident occurred around 11:36 a.m., when Train 1624, en route from Spring Valley to Hoboken, fatally struck the unidentified male victim. The train had departed Spring Valley at 10:55 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 12:05 p.m.
No Other Injuries Reported
There were 78 passengers on board at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. NJ Transit temporarily suspended service on the Pascack Valley Line while emergency personnel responded and an investigation began. Service has since been restored.
Investigation Underway by NJ Transit Police
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released as of May 22. NJ Transit Police are leading the ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
