Midland Park’s Wheaton Graduates U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

Midland Park NJ, Christopher Gerard Wheaton, son of James Wheaton and Dierdre James, of Midland Park recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, NY. Wheaton earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission in the U. S. armed forces.  He also earned a Merchant Marine officer license, qualifying him to serve as an officer on any ship in the U.S. flag merchant marine. Wheaton is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School.

Bergen Catholic Parents Sue School Over Fight That Injured Their Son

Oradell NJ, a lawsuit filed Wednesday accuses Bergen Catholic High School of negligence, claiming the school failed to protect a student from being injured in a fight last year.

The parents of the injured student allege that inadequate supervision between class periods during the fall 2023 semester led to their son being attacked by another student. The lawsuit seeks $75,000 in damages to cover injuries, legal fees, and other costs.

Former Carlstadt Little Leaguer Coaches Team USA to the World Baseball Classic Finals

Carlstadt NJ, Mark DeRosa from Carlstadt was named  manager for Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. DeRosa was put in charge of an absolutely loaded roster that will surely be one of the favorites when the tournament begins in March. Mike Trout (captain), Bryce Harper, Nolan Arenado, J.T. Realmuto, Trevor Story, Paul Goldschmidt and Pete Alonso have already made commitments to the team ahead of the official roster release this February, giving DeRosa plenty of talent to work with.
