TENAFLY, NJ — In an emotional and historic homecoming, Edan Alexander, a Tenafly native and Israeli-American soldier, has returned to New Jersey after enduring 584 days of captivity by Hamas. The streets of Tenafly were lined with members of the Jewish and Israeli community, waving flags and holding signs to welcome Alexander home after nearly 20 months of unimaginable hardship.

Hamas to Release American-Israeli Hostage Edan Alexander Ahead of Trump’s Middle East Visit

Tenafly NJ, Hamas will release Edan Alexander, the last known surviving American-Israeli hostage held in Gaza, according to a senior official from the militant Palestinian group who spoke to Reuters on Sunday.

Fate of U.S.-Israeli Soldier and Tenafly Native Edan Alexander Unclear as Gaza Conflict Intensifies

Tenafly NJ, the armed wing of Hamas announced Saturday that the fate of Edan Alexander , a 21-year-old Israeli-American soldier from Tenafly, remains unknown following an Israeli airstrike that killed one of his captors. Alexander is believed to be the last known U.S. citizen held alive in Gaza.
