Reader Comments On Night Time Solicitations in Glen Rock

4c26ccd873135774a8f0ee5eab2362b1

” No permits should be issued by police to allow people to be bothered in their own homes. I would jump a mile if my doorbell rang after 8 PM when I wasn’t expecting anyone. I would not respond, but then there’s the chance that your house is being cased to see if anyone is home, so supposedly you’re better off yelling “No thanks!” Why should the burden fall on a person in his or her own home? All such permit requests should be denied, including political movements and fundraising. I believe this will eventually happen and I hope it’s not because of some awful incident. Sorry, but it’s a new world and the sanctity of the privacy of one’s home must be respected. Fundraising efforts should be directed elsewhere. “

Glen Rock NJ, we know from time to time we gave Mr.Packer a hard time ,but we do wish him the best of luck .

Mayor Packer’s complete statement:

“About four years ago, I got a phone call from the now departed Mark McCullough asking me if I would consider running for mayor. This was not something that I had ever seriously considered but yet I did not respond in the negative. As a regular at council meetings, I did feel that I had something different to offer and after much discussion with family and friends, I decided to give it a shot.

I was humbled and excited by the immense amount of support that I received as I shared my thoughts and vision for the town. My desire to serve grew with the clear message that I consistently received from residents was that it was time for a change in Glen Rock.

How Diversion Burglaries Work

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock police discuss how diversion burglaries work and whats residents should watch out for.

Last year the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warning to residents following a rise in diversion burglaries.

The prosecutor’s office said residents should be careful who they allow on their property, with thieves more frequently posing as utility workers. Officials said more than a dozen diversion burglaries have been reported in the county in the past few weeks.

In most of the scenarios, a thief impersonating a utility worker distracts the homeowners while an accomplice enters the home to take what he can.

This WMBC-TV news video spells out the details .
