Making History: Johnson Public Library Undergoes First Major Upgrade in Nearly Six Decades

Hackensack NJ, for the first time since 1967, the Johnson Public Library in Hackensack is undergoing a significant, long-awaited renovation. The library, a cornerstone of the community since it first opened its doors in 1901, closed temporarily on November 10th and will remain shuttered until December 1st to complete the initial critical phase of work.

Library Director Tara Cooper emphasized the necessity of the update: “The way we use the library has changed a lot in the last 60 years. We’re really playing catchup. We’re finally making it happen.”
