Ridgewood NJ, Commuters relying on NJ Transit and Amtrak between New Jersey and New York Penn Station face significant travel disruption in early 2026. The cause? The final, complicated stage of construction on the new $2.3 billion Portal North Bridge over the Hackensack River.
NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri confirmed that a critical construction phase, known as the “cutover,” will likely require rerouting or canceling trains over an estimated period of up to six weeks.
