Ridgewood NJ, Governor Phil Murphy and NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett today previewed the next generation of multilevel rail cars, modernizing the fleet which will significantly improve reliability, capacity and customer comfort. The latest generation of multilevel rail cars was unveiled at an event at NJ TRANSIT’s Meadows Maintenance Complex (MMC) in Kearny.

NJ Transit adds 36 Multilevel rail cars that offer increased capacity, mechanical reliability and improved customer amenities

Ridgewood NJ, the NJ TRANSIT’s Board of Directors approved the purchase of 36 additional Multilevel III rail cars that offer an increase in seating capacity, mechanical reliability and improved customer amenities. The purchase continues to advance NJ TRANSIT’s plan to phase out the oldest single level rail cars from the fleet.
