Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Crew displayed its flexibility, determination, and perseverance at the annual Head of the Passaic Regatta (HOPR) in Lyndhurst, NJ, this past weekend, overcoming a last-minute date change and an, at times, highly challenging race course to score five victories and 10 overall podium finishes.

First Fall Regatta Yields Nine Medals For Ridgewood Crew

Ridgewood NJ,  Nereid Boat Club and Passaic River Rowing Association co-sponsored the Head of the Passaic River Regatta (HOPR) this weekend, a growing headrace located in Northern New Jersey on the tidal waters of the Passaic River. Conveniently located just 12 miles from New York City, the regatta attracts rowers from the tri-state area and beyond. The ~ 2.5 mile course passes through sections of Belleville, Clifton, Lyndhurst, and Nutley. The start is just half a mile downstream from the Nereid Boat Club, and the finish is roughly 1.5 miles downstream from the Passaic River Rowing Association. The course is challenging with two bridges, turns and tidal current.
