Bergen County Scam Alert: Don’t Scan That QR Code on Your ‘Court Notice’

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Local law enforcement agencies, including the Wyckoff and Carlstadt Police Departments, are issuing an urgent warning to North Jersey residents: That “Official Court Notice” in your mailbox might be a high-tech trap.

Scammers are now using sophisticated fake documents, complete with official-looking state seals, to trick residents into scanning QR codes that lead to identity theft and financial loss.
