TRENTON, NJ – The relentless pursuit of justice paid off this week as law enforcement officials announced the successful capture of a top fugitive. Jordan P. Ragland, 33, of Absecon, NJ, was arrested in Sacramento, California, on September 23, 2025, bringing an end to a multi-year manhunt.
Ragland had been wanted since 2021 on a staggering list of charges, including maintaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) production facility, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, unlawful possession of an assault firearm, and other serious weapons and drug offenses. He was added to the NJSP Most Wanted List in May 2025.
Interstate Manhunt and Dramatic Capture
The arrest was the result of tireless cooperation between the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force. After allegedly fleeing New Jersey following a search warrant executed in 2021, Ragland reportedly used multiple aliases to travel to California to avoid apprehension.
Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the NJ State Police, emphasized the determination of the effort:
“Taking this fugitive into custody is the result of the unwavering persistence of our detectives… This individual—wanted for drug distribution, weapons offenses, and endangering the welfare of a child—posed a serious threat to our communities. He was located all the way in California, a clear reminder that distance will not protect you from accountability.”
The Alleged Criminal Network
The charges stem from a lengthy, multi-agency investigation led by the NJSP Casino Gaming Bureau, which began in September 2020. The probe uncovered an alleged criminal network where Ragland was accused of shipping large quantities of crystal methamphetamine from California to Atlantic City, New Jersey, and other locations across the U.S.
Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin praised the cooperative law enforcement effort: “No matter how far someone runs, or how long they hide, if we believe they are guilty of a crime, we will not stop until they are brought to justice.”
Following his arrest, Ragland was extradited back to New Jersey and is now lodged in the Atlantic County Jail to face the charges.
