>On June 13 2007, the Ridgewood Council will have a public hearing on an ordinance to amend the Code of the Village of Ridgewood

>Dear Friends:

On June 13 2007, the Ridgewood Council will have a public hearing on an ordinance to amend the Code of the Village of Ridgewood to provide for certain violations for the “consumption and/or possession of alcoholic beverage by underage persons”.
The intent of this ordinance is in no way meant to provide police with additional grounds to enter a residence or to give kids a police record, but rather to protect them as well as the residents of the Village. Our goal is to save lives!

The following information provided by the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information is important to note:
1) A child who reaches age 21 without smoking, abusing alcohol or using drugs is virtually certain never to do so.
2) The average age when youth first try alcohol is 11 years for boys and 13 years for girls. The average age at which Americans begin drinking regularly is 15.9 years old.
3) It has been estimated that over three million teenagers are out-and-out alcoholics. Several million more have a serious drinking problem that they cannot manage on their own.
4) The three leading causes of death for 15-24 year olds are automobile crashes, homicides and suicides — alcohol is a leading factor in all three.

The Community Task Force will be holding presentations for students as well as parents. Teenage drinking is a problem not only for Ridgewood. However, we as parents/adults can do something to help our children. Come to the meeting on June 13th.! I Support the Ordinance!. I believe it will help save lives.
What do you think? I would like your input to get a clear idea of where the community stands on the proposed ordinance. You can e-mail me with your comments at pmancuso@ridgewoodnj.net or call me at (201)447-3489.
If you would like, I will also be happy to meet with you (individually or in groups). I look forward to hear from you.

Please send this e-mail to ten friends and ask them to do the same.

Thank you.

Pat Mancuso

  1. >Well put Pat. We really need to bring an end to this problem in the Village.

  2. >”The three leading causes of death for 15-24 year olds are automobile crashes, homicides and suicides”

Who would have thunk it ,I would have thought you people die mostly from old age, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, stroke

  3. >take care of your own kids and leave my kids alone

  4. >pat iI think you village hall folks you get you crap together and fix the village hall and stop bugging everyone else…

  5. >we should ban the booze at the village hall first

  6. >Pat, if you really want to save teenage lives–and you say you do–ban driving, period.

  7. >You guys are a bunch of idiots who have absolutly no lives except going on this blog.

  8. >You guys are a bunch of idiots who have absolutly no lives except going on this blog. …since your so busy leave my kids alone and go F*ck yourself

  9. >the council should spend more time fixing the village hall flooding problem and bud out of other peoples business

  10. >I need a drink!

  11. >I think it was a very noble thing for Councilman Mancuso to come and explain, meet with us, and look out for us. I think the ordinance will be a great benefit to our town. One thing I think the Mayor and Council should look into before this though is the corruption in Village Hall. Ten Hoeve and Moritz espically are no good for out town.
Thanks for being a gentleman Pat.

  12. >I think it was a very noble thing for Councilman Mancuso …

I think the council is full of a bunch of clowns ,that should mind their own business …

  13. >yes Pat ,where’s your proof that this has stoped teeanage drinking any where ?

  14. >here if you can’t do anything right you tell other people how to live…

  15. >will these rule apply to village hall ?

,will you take the keys away from certain people who drink under the influence at the village hall ?….

  16. >Pat wants to run your life ..oh brother…I stoped voting you and Pfund and this time wasting stupidity confirms my feelings ..we need new blood in the village hall

  17. >This proposed change will NOT “solve the problem” of underage drinking in Ridgewood or anywhere else. You people are living in a fantasy world. What it will do, intended or not, Pat, is allow the police to enter our home without a warrant. I don’t care if you support it or not.

I will not allow underage children to drink in my home and I have done my best to raise my children with common sense and good judgement. Frankly, I am not willing to give anyone permission to enter my home against my wishes, without the legal due process that exists today. There is too much potention for errors and poor judgement on the part of the police. We know all to well that the Ridgewood police are not immune from poor judgement. I am far more qualified to raise my children that Pat Mancuso or the Ridgewood Police Dept.

I support the elimination of drunk driving and undergae drinking. But, if you attempt to enter my home, you will find yourself in court. Stay out of my home, unless you have a warrant.

I am far more interested in seeing the police actually do a better job of enforcing the many laws regarding underage drinking, speeding and drunk driving that already exist. And if you really want to address the problem stiffen the penalties and hold “mommy & daddy” financially accountable for their children’s actions.

  18. >I need another drink!

  19. >Pat,

When I see you, I will personally thank you for your effort and good intentions. It is more than others are willing to do.

anything to avoid doing real work…

  23. >more dumb garbage by the gang that cant shot straight

  24. >nice plug but I am not buying your bull Pat…you and Pfund have sold us out along time ago …

  25. >hey Pat are we going to have another “water emergency” this summer?….

  26. >The real “water emergency” we’re going to have is when the complete the hook-up to United Water. Did you see the bottle of brown water in the Bergen Record the other day? Well that’s what we’re going to be getting out of our taps pretty soon. The Ridgewood Water should be selling bottled water as a very viable business, instead the Village is going to significantly downgrade our drinking/cooking water so that people can water their lawns! If you’ve forgotten what chlorinated surface water tastes like, be prepared, it’s nothing like what we’ve been used to in the last 100 years. Graydon water will taste better. Instead, require Valley Hospital to supply it’s own water. That would be a major part of the demand solution and also require homeowners to have moisture sensors installed. Stepping up enforcement of the existing odd/even restrictions would help too. You’d have to patrol between 10PM and 6AM to catch people though.
