Venezuelans in South Florida Erupt in Celebration After Maduro’s Capture

Doral – Flordia , The streets of Doral, Florida, transformed into a sea of yellow, blue, and red on Saturday as thousands of Venezuelan exiles celebrated the stunning news: Nicolás Maduro has been ousted. Following a large-scale U.S. military operation that captured the embattled leader and his wife, the Venezuelan diaspora in South Florida—the largest in the United States—is finally daring to dream of a homecoming.

From the iconic El Arepazo restaurant to the streets of Miami, the air was filled with chants of “Libertad!” and the sound of percussion, marking what many residents are calling a “second Independence Day.”
Doral: The Heart of the Celebration
In Doral, often nicknamed “Doralzuela” due to its high concentration of Venezuelan residents, the atmosphere was electric. As word spread that Maduro had been flown out of the country, hundreds gathered to wave flags and embrace strangers.
For residents like Alejandra Arrieta, who has lived in the U.S. since 1997, the moment was overwhelming.
“It’s a combination of feelings,” Arrieta said. “There’s fears. There’s excitement. We’ve been waiting so many years for this. Something had to happen… we all need the freedom.”
Hope for Family Reunions
For many, the political victory is deeply personal. Over 8 million people have fled Venezuela since 2014, resulting in millions of fractured families.
David Nuñez, a political activist who fled to the U.S. six years ago, spoke through tears about his daughters, aged 8 and 17, whom he hasn’t seen since his escape. “The most important thing is that we’re going to be able to be with our families soon,” Nuñez said. “I’ve cried a lot. I’m really happy because I know I’m going to be able to return very soon.”
New Jersey Democrats Rush to Make Fools Out of themselves by Supporting the Fallen Drug Dealing Communist Dictator
On kew New Jersey Democratic leaders blasted the Trump administration following reports that the United States carried out military strikes in Venezuela and seized President Nicolás Maduro — saying the operation was an illegal act of war and risked destabilizing the region.
U.S. Senator Cory Booker aka “Spartacus”condemned what he called Trump’s “unlawful and unjust actions in Venezuela” and criticized Congress for what he called the “ongoing abdication of its constitutional duty.”
U.S. Sen. Andy Kim accused Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of having “blatantly lied” to Congress about the administration’s goals in Venezuela.
Not all Democrats criticized Trump for his actions.
U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, considered a hawkish Democrat, issued a statement blasting Maduro, saying that he “undermined democracy, enriched himself at the expense of his people, partnered with enemies of the U.S. and led a corrupt, narco-linked regime.”
In his statement, posted on X, the Democrat from Bergen County did not oppose Trump’s actions but called for the administration to fully brief Congress on its operations and strategy. He also commended U.S. military involved in the Venezuela invasion.
The “Trump Transition”: What Happens Next?
During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump indicated that the U.S. government would oversee the transition in Venezuela temporarily. While international law experts debate the move, many in Doral expressed relief at the prospect of American oversight.
Alexa Perez, a newlywed who called the news the “best wedding gift” possible, welcomed the U.S. intervention. “We are very poor, we have no hospitals, we have no rights,” Perez noted. “This is going to be a great transition. Once you know how the U.S. works, you know everything can work better.”
A Long Road to Recovery
While the celebrations continue, community leaders are reminding the world that removing a dictator is only the first step. Niurka Meléndez, co-founder of Venezuelans and Immigrants Aid, emphasized the need for a total rebuild of the nation’s institutions.
“Removing an authoritarian system creates the possibility—not a guarantee, but a possibility—for recovery,” Meléndez stated. “A future without criminal control is the minimum condition for rebuilding.”
The Impact on South Florida
The Venezuelan community in Florida is a diverse mosaic of doctors, lawyers, service workers, and entrepreneurs. For years, they have lived in a state of “temporary” status, watching from afar as their homeland collapsed. Today, that temporary feeling has been replaced by a concrete hope for a permanent return to a free Venezuela.

There is no known cure for TDS.
Fantanyl.
There’s a difference between agreeing that this was a very bad guy who shouldn’t be leading Venezuela, and agreeing that the United States was right in using force to remove him on our own without any Congressional approval and no imminent threat the the US. If there was a legitimate reason we needed to take this type of action, then there should be no problem sharing the rationale with Congress and doing this the right way. That’s why checks and balances exist.
now we are about “checks and balances” LOL
Stop
Dems run right to their msm buddies to leak the plan and put our servicemen and women in harms way. Never provide the plan to dems
No problem, checks and balances.
I am confident Donald Trump will agree to all the parameters that were set during the Obama administration on foreign military action.
I much preferred the day when we gave substanence to the opposition seeking a democracy like ours rather than engaging in nation building. Shedding no tears for this drug dealing dictator, but what happens when Russia or China kidnap the head of one of our allies?
there is no nation building , you are living in the 90’s , they have a duly elected goverment, that has been kept out of power
