Paramus NJ, Paramus Police apprehended at least one (1) individual on Friday afternoon, 07/15, in connection with the theft and subsequent rollover crash of a white colored BMW SUV.
The crash occurred on Plaza Way, near Paramus Road, directly in front of a large senior citizens’ residential facility and adjacent to a TD Bank branch. Unconfirmed reports were that an adult male citizen witnessed the theft, video recorded it happening, and was pursuing the stolen vehicle in his own car (which was slightly damaged in the pursuit) when the crash occurred.
Police captured the alleged thief, said to be a 15-16 year old male, following a brief foot chase in through the senior citizens’ complex. A pursuing police officer sustained a very minor leg injury in connection with the apprehension; no other injuries were reported. The BMW was righted and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.
Traffic on a portion of Plaza Way, a main access/egress route of the Garden State Plaza, was temporarily halted in both directions while emergency responders worked at the scene. Paramus Fire Department also responded to the incident.
