Paramus NJ, Police arrested a man and woman from East Elmhurst, NY, after catching them with over $6,000 worth of stolen J.Crew clothing outside Garden State Plaza last week.
Suspects Identified and Arrested
On March 20, Diego Munoz-Parra, 43, and Maria Munoz-Parra, 41, were taken into custody by Paramus police detectives from the Organized Retail Crime Unit.
Detectives were conducting surveillance on a vehicle suspected to be involved in shoplifting incidents when they spotted the pair repeatedly traveling between the J.Crew store and a parked Mazda, raising suspicions.
45-Minute Surveillance Leads to Arrest
After watching the suspects for approximately 45 minutes, police observed Diego Munoz-Parra leaving the mall with a suspicious bulge under his clothing.
Detective Matt McGuire and Detective Lt. Jack Cacamis approached the pair at their vehicle and discovered that Munoz-Parra was wearing a girdle-style bodysuit filled with stolen merchandise.
Over $6,000 in Stolen Goods Recovered
Upon searching the suspects and their vehicle, police recovered $6,093.30 in stolen J.Crew items.
Criminal Charges and Jail Time
Both suspects were charged with:
✅ Receiving stolen property
✅ Organized retail theft
✅ Possession of burglary tools
Following their arrest, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti confirmed that they were taken to Bergen County Jail.
