Paramus NJ, around 9:45 a.m. Monday, the Paramus police department received a call from a resident on Allen Drive who voiced concern about a red-tailed hawk near the side of her house. When police arrived on the scene, it was clear that the “bird was in distress” and couldn’t fly .
The injured bird was then carefully rescued by Dean Avagnano, a traffic patrol police officer and given the name “Paramus”. The bird was first transferred to Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital and then to the Raptor Trust, a wild bird rehabilitation center located in the Millington section of Long Hill Township for rehab.
