Paramus Superintendent of Schools Comments on ,”racially and sexually offensive postings” circulated over social media by several students

Today, our district became aware that racially and sexually offensive postings were circulated over social media by several of our students in response to the events occurring throughout the country following the tragedy in Minnesota. The Paramus Board of Education, the administration, staff, student body, community, and many others outside of Paramus are justifiably outraged by these racially and sexually charged messages.

After being informed of these offensive social media postings, the high school and central office administration initiated an immediate investigation in accordance with board policies and the student code of conduct. School officials also coordinated their efforts with law enforcement and were in contact with all parties directly involved. After the investigation is concluded, the administration and the board will take whatever measures are appropriate.

I am prohibited from disclosing any further information regarding this investigation due to state and federal laws protecting the confidentiality and privacy of student information.

With that said, the Paramus Board of Education denounces all forms of discrimination motivated by race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. A safe and civil environment in and outside of school is necessary for our students to learn and achieve high academic standards.

The disrespectful and humiliating nature of these social media postings is the antithesis of our school’s core values and beliefs. The Paramus School District is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of our students. Part of our school district’s mission is to produce citizens who respect cultural differences, make responsible decisions, and communicate effectively.

The messages in these social media postings were clearly hurtful. As educators, we must use this incident as an opportunity to help our students grow and better understand their responsibility to respect the dignity and the rights of all individuals.

  1. Please forward what the kids have been sharing. I’m making a library of all the looting and rioting videos. Maybe one day it will become an art gallery.

  2. Why are we allowing such woke inaccuracies to be spread? Minneapolis was a tragedy, but only because society is being compelled to focus on the wrong things.

For example, not a thought for the poor pregnant lady who had a loaded gun held to her stomach for hours after a forced property entry in 2007 by…George Floyd. She was then abused by him and his 3 associates. They then stole her tv and jewelry.
He subsequently served time for violent robberies, drug dealing, and was so well known in Houston he had to move to Minneapolis.
He was on his “fresh start” when, as high as a kite and drunk as a lord, he decided to violently insist the black store clerk take his forged banknote.
After his arrest, he started kicking his way out of the patrol car and violently resisting arrest. This is a career criminal who lived by proverbial sword. The cop was overzealous in his restraint. End of.
When will we stop vilifying people who made a genuine mistake, and canonizing violent criminals due to their race? Is it any wonder the gangs of NYC think it’s “all good” for them to loot without fear of prosecution?
Perhaps we’ll erect a George Floyd statue outside of the Ridgewood police station?
