LOS ANGELES, CA — The Pentagon has sent 700 U.S. Marines and an additional 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles, bringing the total federal force presence in the city to 4,000 troops, as immigration-related protests enter their fourth day. This significant and rare domestic military deployment underscores the growing tensions between the federal government and California leadership over immigration enforcement and civil unrest.

🔥 What’s Happening in Los Angeles?

The protests began in response to recent ICE raids and immigration arrests across Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Demonstrations have erupted into clashes between federal agents and protesters, with reports of vandalism, Molotov cocktails, and confrontations with law enforcement. Federal troops have been deployed to secure federal buildings and personnel, as well as maintain order in areas where protests have intensified.

🛡️ Marines Deployed Domestically — A Rare Move

The decision to deploy Marines — a rare action for domestic affairs — was authorized by President Donald Trump under Article 10 powers, allowing the federal government to take control of state National Guard troops without the governor’s approval. This authority was last used in 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson during the civil rights movement.

⚖️ Governor Newsom Fights Back

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) immediately filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the deployment of the first 2,000 troops last weekend. Newsom argued the deployment was unconstitutional and politically motivated. In response, Trump issued a sharp warning, threatening the arrest of both Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) if they interfered with the Guard’s operations.

🧾 Official Statement

A full statement from U.S. Northern Command is available, outlining the scope and purpose of the deployment. According to the release, the Marines and National Guard troops are operating under direct federal orders to protect federal assets and ensure public safety amid growing unrest.

📍 Background and Implications

This deployment adds fuel to an already fiery national debate over immigration policy, state vs. federal authority, and the appropriate use of military force on U.S. soil. It also sets the stage for a potential constitutional showdown between a president asserting strong executive authority and a state government that openly resists federal immigration enforcement actions.

  2. If Democrats had any sense, they would distance themselves from these Antifa anarchists. By condoning this behavior, they will be in the forever minority.

  3. Let’s see if the stupid, non educated, shit voters of NJ could learn anything from watching the democrats try to handle anything correctly?

  4. If Republicans had any sense they’d let LA burn. Why are we bailing them out? This is the mess Democrats made so why correct them when they’re making mistakes? Let them suffer from their own failed policies and show the rest of the world what it looks like so there are no questions in the future. Newsome says they had it under control. End of story. Only when Newscum is barricaded up in his bunker and his own violent mob is banging at the door, and he’s calling the Feds for help, then maybe pick up the phone but not a minute sooner.
