  1. >How can this town be so dense about Graydon Pond? That’s right, it’s not a pool, where I come from, we call that a pond. If you have any question in your mind that Graydon is NOT antiquated, stop by the Glenn Rock pool and take a look at how nice it is. While you’re at it, count the number of Geese (and related droppings) they have in their pool, too. It’s no wonder that many Ridgewoods residents belong to pools that are 20 – 30 minutes outside of town.
It’s time to get real and convert our quaint pond that’s steeped in “tradition” into a modern, cement bottomed, goose-crap free, pool.

  2. >Well said, wish you were with me at the July meeting.

  3. >If you want to go swim in a cement bottom pool then go do so. Everyone in Ridgewood knows someone with a pool or go join a pool somewhere else. Why do you have the desire to irrevesibly change something so unique to fit your idea of what a pool should be?

  4. >Anonymous,
Perhaps the 90% of residents who find Graydon uninviting and dirty could come to your house and swim in your pool for the summer. Change is not a bad thing! A sand colored, concrete or concrete like bottom, with zero entry POOL with CHLORINE, clear water and no geese or excrement in the SAME natural setting is bad why? Those who fight change tend to show their age, let us the new generation of Ridgewood residents enjoy the “new” Graydon as you and yours have in the past.

  5. >Where do you get the statistic that 90% of residents find Graydon uninviting? Who says I have a pool? Where did I state that a pool with the characteristics that you describe is bad? I hope the majority of the new generation of Ridgewood residents, of which I am, is not as ignorant and illogical as you.

  6. >I don’t really have a problem with Graydon. I take my kids there. I do however understand why so many people have a problem sharing a pool with wildlife that crap in it. Maybe Graydon was the place to be back in the day, but in this antiseptic age of over-protective parents, together with the trappings that modern day affluence has brought (backyard pools, etc), I can see why Graydon is dying a slow death. In my opinion, we should build a couple of large regular swimming pools (one for the small kids, and one regular one). The extra land should all be well landscaped into an area where people can picnic, BBQ, and play, and add things like a couple of volleyball courts. I truly think that this is the answer.
