Ridgewood NJ, President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement blitz is in full swing, sparking sharp criticism from Democrats while gaining broad voter support. The latest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids have resulted in over 2,000 arrests, with nearly 1,000 people detained in a single day, according to federal officials.
Nationwide Raids Target Illegal Immigration
ICE, along with other federal agencies, has been conducting large-scale deportation operations across the country. Notably, the raids have focused on deep-blue cities like Chicago, where Trump frequently clashes with Democratic leaders.
While the administration defends the enforcement as a necessary step to uphold federal immigration law, critics argue it harms local communities, disrupts families, and weakens the economy.
Voter Sentiment: Majority Support Deportation Raids
Despite the controversy, a Rasmussen Reports survey shows that 57% of likely U.S. voters approve of Trump’s immigration raids, including 38% who strongly support the actions. By an 18-point margin, more Americans approve than disapprove, with only 39% opposed to the initiative.
Democratic Backlash & Concerns Over Mistaken Detentions
Leading the opposition, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.), head of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, condemned the raids as politically motivated and harmful to communities.
“These unwarranted raids have not only targeted hardworking individuals, but, alarmingly, have also wrongfully detained U.S. citizens and veterans,” Espaillat stated.
Critics argue that the enforcement tactics erode public trust, destabilize local economies, and create fear among immigrant communities.
Trump’s Border Czar Defends Crackdown
Tom Homan, Trump’s “border czar,” has dismissed criticism, insisting that the administration is simply enforcing long-standing immigration laws that have been ignored for years.
“President Trump is going to secure the border as promised to the American people, and we’re going to enforce immigration laws—without apology,” Homan declared.
What’s Next? An Even Larger Crackdown on the Horizon
Homan hinted that these raids are just the beginning, stating, “You’re going to see it get a hell of a lot bigger in the near future.”
With immigration set to be a defining issue in the 2024 election, Trump’s approach is reshaping the national conversation. As the administration ramps up enforcement, the battle over immigration policy is far from over.

ICE should be visiting construction sites. Plenty of low hanging fruit available for deportation.
Illegal aliens drive down the wages of construction workers.
No American is going to do that type of labor for $152/hour and a warm coat at Christmas (if they are lucky and work with a generous contractor).
they said the same about slavery
Correct.
But remember, The Democrats are the party of Slavery.
The Republicans are the party of freedom.
The Democrats are also the party of Marxism. And Marx famously congratulated Lincoln on his war against slavery … wait, whuuuuuut?
Shiiiiiii …. I’ll do it for a $100/hr and you can keep the coat.
Ship them out and they can come back through legal channels.
It’s incredible to read all the reasons from liberals that this is bad. Everything from more expensive coffee to people not willing to do the work. The market always works. People will work, as long as the Government strips away all the bullshit free money programs.
People need to come here legally and learn to read, write and speak the English language. My ancestors did and they also became naturalized American citizens. In the meantime, be ready to do your own house cleaning and landscaping. Will also have to come up with an alternative plan to pick those crops. After all, we need to eat. Hope someone thought about this ahead of time. 😊
” wrongfully detained U.S. citizens and veterans”
It’s called an investigative detention and is perfectly reasonable if done with minimal delay.
You have to talk to everybody or else you will be accused of disparate treatment because you will have talked only to those who look like they might be here illegally.
