Ridgewood  NJ — Are New Jersey towns focused on public safety, or are they writing tickets to fill budget shortfalls? Newly released data from the New Jersey municipal courts offers insight into how many traffic violations were issued across every municipality from July 2024 to June 2025.

The statewide report covers DWI offenses, moving violations, and parking tickets. As expected, Bergen County—the most populated county in New Jersey—topped the list with the highest number of citations.

Which Bergen County Towns Issued the Most Tickets?

  • Fort Lee: 54,700

  • Garfield: 44,613

  • Hackensack: 38,977

  • Cliffside Park: 26,411

  • Palisades Park: 22,905

  • Lodi: 22,608

  • Ridgefield: 19,502

  • Ridgewood: 16,829

  • Teaneck: 16,556

  • North Arlington: 16,326

📊 Parking tickets were the most common violation across the board, far outpacing moving violations and DWI charges.

Towns With the Biggest Increases in Tickets

Some municipalities saw sharp jumps in ticketing compared to the prior year:

  • Rockleigh: ⬆️ 121% (117 from 53)

  • Little Ferry: ⬆️ 98% (6,923 from 3,499)

  • Hillsdale: ⬆️ 81% (679 from 376)

  • Demarest: ⬆️ 79% (1,170 from 654)

  • Edgewater: ⬆️ 70% (4,123 from 2,431)

Despite Rockleigh and Hillsdale seeing huge percentage increases, they remain among the lowest ticketing towns overall.

  4. I got pulled over one day by a Woodcliff Lake cop. When he found out that I worked for KPMG he let me go.

  5. It’s all bullshit. It’s about making money, especially when they do inspection check ups. That’s all overtime. Ridiculous.
