Newark NJ, unless you’re happy to live in a city with one of the worst unemployment rates in New Jersey, you might want to avoid Newark. The largest city in New Jersey is also one of its most jobless – a massive 11.3% of the population is unemployed. Just to put that in perspective, that’s more than double the US average.
Even those lucky enough to have a job aren’t exactly living in style, with most households pulling in the distinctly below-average income of just $35,199 – over $20,000 less than the US average. Crime isn’t quite as bad as it is in some other places, but it still manages to fall within the bottom 5% percent.
Now Ras Baraka, Democrat Mayor of Newark has decided to pick a fight with ICE over deportation of illegal aliens many of who are violent criminals

Ras Baraka, mayor of crime-ridden Newark and now a Democrat running for New Jersey governor, got arrested defending illegal aliens. He led a mob to confront and push federal officers outside an ICE detention facility. All to protect people who broke our laws, invaded our country, and are draining our tax dollars. While black Americans are dying from fentanyl flooding over the southern border, Baraka chooses to get locked up for illegal aliens.
This wasn’t civil disobedience. It was a Marxist publicity stunt that only appeals to a tiny fringe of radical leftists.
They cry about January 6th but applaud this chaos.
Congresswomen Bonnie Watson Coleman and Lamonica McIver cheer him on like fools. Even common-sense Democrats can see how ridiculous this is.If a Republican doesn’t take them down in 2026, a Democrat with more commonsense than them will.
Hispanic elected officials wouldn’t do this because even they understand that hispanics dont want illegals here either.

Come on, Blog — if you support democracy and the rule of law, you should support what Ras Baraka is doing. Based on ICE’s actions to date, we can have no confidence they are following the law at Delaney Hall. ICE is wearing masks to hide their faces, evading judges, ignoring due process, and deporting even citizens and children caught up in their dragnets. Beyond this, no humans should be housed at Delaney Hall. It is a flood zone. During Hurricane Sandy, it was surrounded by a 5-foot storm surge from Newark Bay. Staff and inmates were trapped for two days, while the building flooded with saltwater and effluent from nearby contaminated sites and the Passaic Valley Sewerage Authority which had lost power. Is this a place to detain 1000+ people? Mayor Baraka is absolutely correct — in fact it is his duty — to point out there is NO current certificate of occupancy. The NJ Representatives, whose right and duty it is to perform unannounced inspections, found that many of those detained had no access to phones. Maybe they will be deported without any legal representation or even a chance to inform their families. DOES THIS NOT ALARM YOU? The wrongful arrest of Baraka is the publicity stunt designed to distract you from the illegality of what is happening here. If would-be Rep. Prempeh claims to hold American values, he should summon the courage Baraka has shown and show up at Delaney Hall to demand transparency, due process, and humane conditions.
