” Those who still do not understand what is happening to RW are too naive or to put it in better terms idiots. Open your eyes and see what monsters are being built right in CBD. This is just the beginning. More will spread out all over town. Have you noticed how much of RW tree inventory has been depleted the past year? Have you noticed the monstrosity going on on the other side of RT 17? I really hate how this VC is treating us on this. What vision feedback are they asking for from residents? Their plans are being implemented already. Why do they insult us this way? They don’t care about our opinion, they just see us as cash cows for town’s coffers. We have no say in anything. And if some of us can’t take this and decide to leave RW, so what? Some other NY transplants will replace us and the tax $$$ will continue pouring in. Forget your village, this is a town transitioning into a small city. Think Hackensack, Montclair etc. And for all the bullshit about plastic bags, plastic straws and other feel good campaigns , the fact that trees are being cut in volumes just goes to show the hypocrisy. It is all about business and political power. “
I wish we had an ordinance preventing any realtor (RH), real estate attorney (AP), developer, or similar from holding a place on any village council, committee, or commission. It wouldn’t cover everyone, but it would be a start.
The article is spot on but it shouldn’t be limited to the 3 amigos. Current VC is more apathetic and has done nothing to slow things down and instead things are moving at a blistering pace. The whole town is turning upside down, building everywhere, a total mess. And I really don’t expect much better from a VC which is led by a realtor. We’re doomed with no way back.
Ramon Hache (who is clearly who you are talking about) had nothing to do with this overdevelopment. This was in the works years ago and residents fought tooth and nail to stop it. They argued for reasonable plans and scope and # of projects. The protests went on for years. And there was no way for them to “slow it down” – it was in the books already! It’s very frustrating when people start blaming the wrong voting “force of nature” for those of us who tried to advocate for right-sized growth. We had no chance. It was a done deal before this Council came in.
You should find and question the people who were dead set that this was “right for Ridgewood” and irrevocably voted it into reality.
Jane is correct. Ramon had nothing to do with this overdevelopment.
It’s funny that when the previous council majority (Paul, Albert, Gwen) are rightly blamed for the over development and false studies on school, anonymous comments blame the current council too.
The fact is that no new development was approved by the current council, the same people who were behind the previous majority to get developments approved now make noise about them and make it appear like the current council did it because they know that the village majority is against over development and their candidates are losing just by association.
Yes a realtor should not be our mayor. Especially one who changed his tune dramatically after getting support from an entire neighborhood that he promised to work with fairly on the healthbarn issue.
All it took was a free zucchini from the business owner and our realtor-mayor no longer supported the tax payers in this neighborhood instead he became an advocate for a business that costs all tax payers money while filling the owners pockets
Watch out for this guy! I am embarrassed to have distributed his sign last election
