The obvious answer to your questions is No and No. Town members care, but the people in charge act like we don’t exist –so nobody is there, and they all have soundproof earplugs–so nobody cares! They have set up an impenetrable wall between themselves and the voters. They only pretend to care when it is nearing the elections. They pretend to listen to villager complaints but continue on their merry way with excessive spending on ANY project that ANY ONE thinks they’d like to see in Ridgewood. We can’t just vote them all out because they take their turns at election time. Nobody who seems to have a brain in their heads and some financial awareness wants to run. Who wants to take on all the personal attacks they would be subjected to if they try to contradict any of the rotten ideas presented? I am afraid that no-one with a brain or financial ability will stay/or move to Ridgewood.
If we don’t take control of this out of control overbuilding, its very true that folks will not come or not stay very long.
This council really needs to wake up and do something (rather than sell real estate and municipal assets.)
I was just thinking about that. I think only the one percent income category will be able to afford to live here; and they will choose this town for yes, the schools, the transportation to NYC, the CBD. Main reasons.
Sell assets? It looks like ‘buy asset’ in the way to go with the $4 mil Elks Lodge so Ridgewood Water cabal can play utility. The fiscal mismanagement is all over town, be it the VC, BoE or library. They can spend but the money tree is tapped out.
The one percent income category are already long gone and are smart enough to not come back.
.
The only people moving here now are the same ones who decide to buy a stock after it has made its historic run and all of the smart money has already sold, taken their profits and moved on to the next good thing…

When viewing the list of NJ school rankings you can find quite a few schools ranked higher than Ridgewood who have a similar environment, but without the same “Spend, Spend, we MUST Spend” ethics found here. Summit, Monclair, West Caldwell etc. They have similar transportation issues. Their CBD’s are not all banks and restaurants. Even Westwood has a much greater variance in the types of stores offered. And they even have one dress shop who seats the clients and brings out items for their approval. (Not that I would want that but it shows the type of consumers in that area.) It has several other types of long term business owners, which are beginning to be sadly lacking in Ridgewood. Our real estate owners still think that Ridgewood is the top and therefore they are allowed to charge some of the highest rents around. Unfortunately, WRONG.
