Just four years ago a resident RW parking pass was 700. it jumped to $1,000 two years ago. and Up ANOTHER 30% now is a whopping $1,300/year. That’s an EIGHTY FIVE PERCENT increase for the pleasure of simply parking your car at an over crowded lot if you can find a space. Not to mention the abhorrent state of NJ Transit

Squeezing you’re already over taxed residents because of over bloated and mis-manged budgets and over paid local officials is OUTRAGEOUS.

SHAME on the the Village council.

I for one have refused to re-up my permit

  1. Ridgewood wants every nicekle out of you

  2. Did everyone think the parking deck was going to be free?

  3. This is terrible for our home values. Does anyone think that our homes are worth what they are because our schools are good? Not even close. Our homes are worth what they are because of our proximity to New York City. Make it harder or more expensive to commute to NYC and our homes are instantly worth less.

  4. Grab your permits while you can. Voigt wants them to go to $1500

  5. When all else fails just throw out Voight name . Remember all 5 voted for the garage and the parking increase.

  6. Defend Voigt all you want, you must be voigt, because no one else supports that maniac. He absolutely suggested increasing the rate to $1500. Came through loud and clear on my live stream. He said something like “what the heck, Ridgewood residents can afford to pay more than $1300.” Anything to support that damn garage.

  7. Mayor is unsympathetic to uptick in pricing on all fronts. I remember his saying when parking went up to 75 cents an hour: “Residents will just have to dig a little deeper.” And same for raise for commuter parking. Always telling us to shop locally, and eat in those expensive restaurants. What about the nearby malls, Mayor, it’s less expensive. A thirty dollar lunch is not affordable for many people. Yet in this town it is considered a bargain. This town is for the one or two percenters who think nothing of property taxes being $20,000 or more a year. That is not a criticism; it is a fact. Commuters will most likely fill up the new garage. And restaurant goers on weekends.
The whole Age Friendly Ridgewood organization is for buses to take rich seniors to the mall or to put benches in the business district for rich seniors. A smattering of affordable housing will exist here; but it will be miniscule in number.

  8. I did not renew my 2018 commoner cottage place lowest class permit

Enjoy your jobs Vc like my pass you will need one too
After you loose the next election

  9. Hes a hack

  10. Per the Walker report another $.50 per hour increase in street meter rates will be needed next January. Reaction from resident/shopper awareness of $1.25 per hour meter rates will be interesting.

  11. Reminder… You all voted yes to this group and no to some new candidates that tried to enter. All because I bunch of bullies on face book told you the current VC would do the right thing. Oh well. Their philosophy is get out of the way and let me run the town. They don’t work for us.

    1. wrong the other candidates were total garbage and bigots

  12. I have had 3 neighbors move in the past year. Another one trying to get out. 2 to Florida and 1 Washington State. All sold for less than they paid for their home. Reason – too expensive/can work from other states and have a much better lifestyle, lower taxes and the trains are so irregular now that it is difficult to be in NYC at a consistent time. Some employers don’t care that the train didn’t come or was late.I plan on getting out of here in the next couple of years and have been here 12 years. Housing prices have not gone back to pre bubble levels in this town like they have in the rest of the country – and they are not going to.
I don’t go into the city unless I have a meeting anymore. The housing market is on the downswing and a recession is coming. Good luck to all!

  13. This council is fine with one notable exception, that short bald guy all the way down by Donna. I agree with everything the current council is doing except for the parking. One issue out of a jillion, not bad.

  14. You bet I voted for this group. The alternatives were truly from the dark side, supported by the worst of the worst, Aronsohn and his girlfriend Gwenn, Sonenfeld and Halaby and all the rest of them. Too bad we did not realize that one of these candidates would turn out to be an evil seed. Well, Voigt will be gone in just over a year. thanks be to God. AMEN.

  15. Speaking of girlfriend Gwenn, is it true that she purchased a love nest within walking distance of Paul and Albert’s places? Albert’s wife must be thrilled by that news.

  16. So nobody is living in the Hauck home any more?

To the earlier poster who said the 1% paid $20,000/year in property tax: do you live in Ridgewood? It is not unusual for large homes (not necessarily enormous ones) to pay twice that much.
