Reader says Some really bad decisions are being made because the town is looking for a buck
I do think that is a factor right now. Think about it, the ridiculous bike lane was done bc the town received outside money , a study is being funded by the freeholders (not the town) to study parking, Blais said at the meeting the other night that no independent studies have been/would be conducted on housing bc we don’t have 100k to spend, etc, and they want developers to take over so they can fund traffic improvements that we can’t. Some really bad decisions are being made bc the town is looking for a buck.
Totally agree with a bike lane from nowhere to nowhere but everything else is not much different than most other towns every one is looking for a buck or else go for higher taxes which i do not think you or a large majority would not like.
You have hit several nails on the head and it will hurt us badly. Taking so-called free money from grants and developers makes no sense unless it’s going to something we want anyway AND will have no negative repercussions. How much of the grant money was sought by Village employees to put on their CVs toward a merit increase, as established by the late, unlamented Ken Gabbert and our fine crew of elected officials at that time? MISTAKE because their version of merit is not what’s good for the town. Most of them don’t even live here, never have, never will (not the council, of course).
Seeking grant money to fund projects we want/need for the town is one thing. Deciding on projects because money is available is another.
Stop with that old story #2 Gabbert’s been gone for some time and your fine crew of elected officials have been in office for a few years and they hand pick their own V.M . CHANGE YOU CAB BELIEVE IN.
What is Blais’s salary? Does he get paid extra for all these meetings ?
Getting thru the bike lane, I mean, Square just doubled in time.
And, just wait until some brave biker actually decides to use the lane. They made the first post so far out that cars need to swing wide when turning left from W. Ridgewood, pretty much turning into the lane itself. And of course the turns to nowhere…
I was behind an “older” driver today trying to navigate the turn and stay out of the bike lane. Summary…Good luck !!!
It is unfortunate that the Village council appears to be so weak and malleable.
Apparently, that was engineered by design to slow down traffic! The engineer needs to go…
the back-ups along Garber Square are now unbearable. We have traffic “blocking the box” from 3:00 all the way until 7:00PM every day. This is crazy. It looks nice, but thats it
