Reader says Valley has become more of a Liability to this town than an asset

I really hope the mediator that has been appointed in the Valley lawsuit concludes that Valley, through their own doing over the years, has become much more of a liability to this town and it’s residents than an asset. Nice to have it, but in no way really needed, especially when you factor in their ridiculous expansion plans, as well as their attitude towards the financial obligations they should have operating in a town that has helped make them extremely profitable. Make a ton of money and don’t pay taxes on a good portion of your assets. What a gig.

  1. Valley just pulled out of their partnership with the YWCA Rodie Child Care Center that served many, many working parents in Ridgewood. Because of this, the Center will be closing their doors for good. The old timers will remember that this wonderful program was originally run at the Glen School. I guess being a non-profit organization that pays millions to their executives has left little for charitable funding . . . So much for being a good neighbor. (This information was in the Bergen Record last week (I think Thursday) in case you missed it).

  2. Took my Pa to the ER at Pascack Valley last month.

Clean and efficient…a breath of fresh air compared to Valley’s ER.

  3. Where the hell is this Council and Village Manager on challenging Valley’s not-for-profit status after they were gift-wrapped a similar precedent in the Morristown hospital case? Go after them. Failure to do so speaks volumes about how poor the legacy of this Council will be. Wake up.

  4. Where is Rurik, we are waiting to hear (in many big words) how valuable Valley is.

  5. Charitably funding…for Ridgewood residents.
And you wonder why Valley pulled the plug?
Read half the crap posted on this blog about Valley and you will have your answer.

  6. The only “crap” that is ever posted on this blog is pro Valley, which, for pretty obvious reasons, is rare.

  7. If the only reason we’re not going after Valley’s “not for profit” status is because Albert and Gwen have a problem with that, then they need to resign. $4mn+ in potential property tax revenues and you just leave it in the table? What the hell is wrong with you, you’re not above 10% of the annual Village budget. If you cannot do it, for goodness sake step aside instead of being such narcissistic jerks. The Village needs better governance.

  8. 640-670 Winters Avenue, Paramus, NJ purchased for $25,000,000 in 2014
1200 E Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ purchased for $28,000,000 in 2013
1 Linwood Avenue, Paramus, NJ purchased for $4,800,000 om 2012
15 Essex Street, Paramus, NJ purchased for $11,220,000 in 1996

Not for profits like the Valley Hospital spend an awful lot on real estate? How?

  9. If they are not recalled before the next election, the damage will be done.
