Even if their attorney told them it’s okay, as was reported on Facebook, I still think it’s a bad idea. It serves to alienate a significant number of taxpayers for no reason. The sign isn’t going to result in a significant number of yes votes. They seemed to have learned nothing from what happened with the parking garage fiasco. Take the sign down now Dan.
Either someone should go take the damn sign Down, or then its ok to put up a Vote NO to full day kindergarten sign also in the same spot – taxpayer funded public property. Equal voice on public funded property. My voice should count too!
BOE members seem to be clueless/out of touch (i.e., parking garage issue). This will cost them more votes than they’ll gain by the stupid little sign. Arrogance continues to reign at 49 Cottage Place
Sign was gone as of Sunday evening. Still not there on Monday morning. Was it stolen or taken down by BOE?
They added fuel to the fire by putting that sign up. Stupid is as stupid does. Will cost them votes.
Vote no to anything that increases taxes. You want full day Kindergarten? Find something in the budget to cut in order to pay for it. Enough is enough.
Yep. If it increases taxes, vote no. Government at all levels has little to no credibility at this point. Residents and taxpayers should not hesitate to make life difficult for government employees and office holders bent on expanding the scope of government.
Agree with 11:27. The days of bottomless deep pockets in this town are over.
Vote no. Vote no. Vote no. I am so tired of people moving in 4 seconds ago and acting surprised about the fact that we have half day K. We do. Get over it. It downs not alter or enhance the direction of these children’s lives.
It’s day care and it’s day are to cover yoga classes.
One woman got up at at BOE meeting and could barely form a sentence that made sense but her main argument was she wants her 3 kids in the same place for the whole day cause it would be easier on her nanny.
Another one couldn’t stop crying. CRYING. Over the effects of this on her daughter.
It’s absurd. VOTE NO
Vote YES for full-day K. We need it.
@ 6:20, “we need it”. In which ways do we need it? What do you mean by need? Are our first graders falling behind? What we need are smaller classes for grades 6-8 and more facilities for that group. IT is not disputable that large class sizes are negative for academic achievement yet those grades have 27-30 children in a class and do work in the hallways. Check out the high school facilities and tell me they don’t “need” an extra 1million. We can’t afford more in taxes and if we were to pay more it should not be for k…they seem to be doing just fine!
NO
Say NO to the kindergarten tax. Parents, pay for your kids childcare and choose the provider YOU want.
