Readers says its time for torches and pitch forks since our public officials are clearly favoring personal agendas over the best interests of the town

It actually may be time for torches and pitch forks since our public officials are clearly favoring personal agendas over the best interests of the town. Residents are having the most implausible “expert testimony” crammed down our throats and the results of “studies” about the impact of all of this building defy all common sense. Then the Gail Price, in a surreal outburst against Valley opponents, dictates that the Planning Board can only consider two unacceptable options and can only use this patently unbelievable testimony to make their decision. So much for public comment and the voice of the people.

When the fix is so blatantly in and when all public opinion is ignored, it’s time for the angry mob to rally. Read your history books folks.

  1. Time to kill the Frankenstein monster.

  2. Of the three running for council, are any aligned with the terrible trio? I want checks and balances, not a bunch of rubber stamps. I will vote for someone independent.

  3. valley will win in the end.

  4. Rumor has it that PA hand-picked Mr. Albano. Many say he’s a nice guy, but I don’t think he has been involved in anything except RBSA. Why the sudden interest in local government? Has anyone heard what he stands for? Or is he busy getting privately tutored on the issues?

  5. Always keep an eye on the sports people in the village or they will run out of control.

  6. After all the talk of defamation this week we have a statement from a reader that “this candidate was hand picked by the mayor.” Truth may be a defense but I have a hard time seeing how you can prove that Ms. Mom. In fact that looks like exactly the kind of statement that will land you in court. Maybe the moderator will do you a solid and remove it.

    1. good luck with that lol !!! PEOPLE WILL NOT BE SILENCED !

  7. Mr Albano is aligned with the Mayor. A block of 3 is unhealthy enough. 4 is unacceptable.

  8. Are any of the candidates aligned with the Eight Amigos ? Shouldn’t we bar candidates who have served in Village management so that we avoid potential conflicts of interest like a former public safety manager voting on above cap pay raises for their former colleagues ?

  9. OK people. You can’t complain about the quality of the candidates when only 3 people run for 2 open spots. If you don’t like the Government you have, then get up off your butt and run for office.

  10. #9 if you are by chance referring to Killion he abstained from all issues involving the Police.

Did you see how our Mayor and his minions treated Mrs. Walsh and Mr Richie? Regular public flogging, accusations and innuendo. Disgraceful. I’m surprised that we got even got 3 people to run.

  12. #9 who the hell are the” Eight Amigos” ? Or are you just making it up as you go along.?

  13. Well you could get more people to run if you recalled the three sitting council members.

A council member abstained from voting on the CBAs ? Shouldn’t we have Council members who aren’t conflicted, whether it be conflicts about doing business with the town or making decisions on hiring and union contract negotiations ? Isn’t that just good municipal governance ?

Hopefully the Council changes the financial disclosure forms under N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.6 to include whether or not an individuals sources of income conduct any business with an entity that is funded in whole or partially by the Village. The Local Government Ethics Law, set forth at N.J.S.A. 40A: 9-22.1 et seq., clearly states that it need not be the official’s own interest that is in conflict with his or her duty to the public. If a member of the official’s immediate family, defined as a spouse or dependant child living in the same household, or a business in which he or she has at least a 10 percent interest, has such a conflict, that conflict is attributed to the official.

  16. Under the Local Government Ethics Law, Financial Disclosure Statements must be filed by April 30th each year, or within 30 days of taking office.

  17. I find it funny that a lot of the council critics always said Arnohnson was using the VC post as a stepping stone to higher office and he’s still here and Walsh is seeking a county post WOW. what tangled web’s we weave through politics.

    1. Walsh is a long time Ridgewood resident , Aronsohn is from hudson county and party of the hudson county machine , Jim MacGreevy will vouch for him

who are the” Eight Amigos” ?

Also referred to as the Group of Eight, see here: https://watchdog-newjersey.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/files/2014/02/100K-club-2013-employer.pdf They’re a very vocal band of anti-Council residents, with very clear vested interests and one way agendas. They want annual property tax increases so we can fund their pensions & cheap Cadillac healthcare plans; they want the BoE to cut spending because they don’t have kids in the schools and think it unfair to pay 66% of their taxes to the BoE, and they don’t like the Mayor for daring to challenge long held assumptions on how Village finances are run, and for appointing someone with private sector experience and efficiency expertise as the new VM. Their membership will more than double next year to 17 or more, up from only 6 in 2010.

  19. What a stretch # 20. Its all about you living above your means.

  20. Gracias #20, oye como va, amigos !

  21. Agreed #21, the Viillage has long been living above its means and raising property taxes to pay for $5 drug co-pays for our retirees. That covers Viagra, too.
