WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has released the first batch of documents tied to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, marking a significant step in the GOP-led push for transparency around the case.

On Tuesday, the committee said it made public 33,295 pages of material provided earlier this month by the Department of Justice (DOJ), following a subpoena from Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.). The files were posted in multiple folders on Google Drive and Dropbox, with Republicans stressing that more disclosures are expected in the coming weeks.

What’s Inside the First Batch

The newly released materials reportedly include:

  • A court decision tied to Epstein’s case

  • Videos from outside Epstein’s jail cell and from inside his home

  • Audio recordings of Ghislaine Maxwell’s interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche

However, Democrats on the panel, including ranking member Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), said much of the information released so far has already been made public.

Political Battle Over Transparency

The release comes as Republicans face internal pressure to accelerate the disclosure of Epstein-related material. Some GOP members have pushed leadership to move faster, with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) filing a discharge petition alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) to force a House vote requiring further disclosures.

But Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) pushed back, calling the effort “moot” in light of the ongoing Oversight Committee releases.

34,000 Epstein documents have already been collected. We will not stop there,” Johnson told reporters. “This is just the beginning. We want justice for every person involved in Epstein’s crimes and cover-ups — while protecting the innocent victims.”

Next Steps: Subpoenas and “Birthday Book”

Chairman Comer confirmed that the Oversight Committee has also subpoenaed the Epstein estate for more material, which lawmakers expect will include the infamous ‘birthday book’ that the Wall Street Journal reported once contained a message from former President Donald Trump.

Comer pledged that the committee will continue to release documents to ensure public transparency:

“We’re going to do everything we can to give the American public the transparency they seek.”

Why It Matters

The release of the Epstein files adds fuel to one of the most politically charged investigations in Congress. With more than 33,000 documents already made public, the spotlight is on how much new information the committee will ultimately reveal — and whether the disclosures will confirm or challenge what has long been suspected about Epstein’s network of connections.

  1. This won’t satisfy leftists who have convinced themselves that Trump is protecting himself. Trump was all set to release everything until lawyers for those actually named in the files threatened lawsuits.

    1. Trump is innocent.

He is actually protecting other politicians and famous and powerful individuals
