According to a statement from the Glen Rock Police Department, a concerned resident called police around 11 p.m. on Friday to report a suspicious vehicle swerving along Lincoln Avenue near Wellesley Road.
Officer Responds to Scene, Finds Driver Unconscious
Officer Nick Onove responded to the call and found a vehicle parked on Wellesley Road. Inside was Luis R. Cruz Valenzuela, 31, of Spring Valley, New York, who was reportedly slumped over in the driver’s seat with drug paraphernalia on his lap.
A further search revealed five bundles — 50 wax baggies — of heroin, police said.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Valenzuela was arrested and charged with:
-
Possession of Heroin
-
Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia
-
Motor vehicle summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle
He was processed at the Glen Rock Police Department Headquarters and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear before Central Judicial Processing at Superior Court in Hackensack, according to officials.
Community Vigilance Pays Off
This arrest highlights how community involvement can aid law enforcement in addressing public safety concerns. A single call from a concerned citizen led to the discovery and removal of illicit narcotics from the streets of Glen Rock.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting suspicious behavior to local authorities. Tips like these can help keep neighborhoods safe and drug-free.
