Ridgewood NJ, “We’ll see…” was Mayor Paul Aronsohn’s answer when asked about the the September 30th agreed to studies . The Mayor did at lest confirm his commitment to the Financial Impact Study.Residents felt betrayed and reminded the council that you cannot renege on any of the approved studies and maintain our trust. Residents deserve and demand the comprehensive overlook you voted for before you consider any sweeping changes to the Central Business District.
At the Monday night meeting several of the Council Members indicated that they could not recall exactly what they voted on, and “committed” to, on September 30th before an audience of hundreds of residents. The video and Heather Mailander’s clarification of the motion immediately before the vote from the September 30th meeting set the record straight :
It is clear that ALL Councilmembers were fully aware of the motion put to the vote and all parties were given the opportunity for further clarification, prior to the vote.
The Vote then occurred as follows:
Heather Mailander: “So this is the amended version which we just read which is multiple studies. Traffic and infrastructure study, financial study and the school impact study. And it’s a comprehensive traffic study as outlined by Councilwoman Knudsen: CBD, surrounding neighborhoods, entire Village. Correct? Okay. So that’s the motion on the floor. Any more discussion?
Susan Knudsen: “And that would be to table everything until this?”
Heather Mailander: “Correct, correct.”
The vote, was then taken with the following result:
Hauck: Yes
Knudson: Yes
Pucciarelli: No
Sedon: Yes
Aronsohn: Yes
It could not be clearer as to what the Council voted on. The council committed to multiple studies. a comprehensive traffic study and infrastructure study, financial study and the school impact study. That’s now what residents require .
Residents clearly indicated that they need a better answer than, “We’ll see.” The High Density development issue is simply too big of an issue ,fundamentally changing the nature of the Village of Ridgewood forever.
We will look back upon this current Council and wonder why they destroyed this town.
I am not surprised.
I suggest that everyone save their emails and Facebook screen captures. Hauck and Roberta were all over Facebook telling residents that the garage plan was NOTfinal. They promised public input. A “yes” vote was just for a garage, no specific size.
Let’s see if Hauck is forgetful about that too.
Hauck is not forgetful. You have to have a brain in the first place in order to be able to forget something. Her posts on Facebook indicate that she really and truly is empty headed.
What they are trying to pull off without the high density housing is outrageous. Did they think that in 6 weeks everyone would have moved on to other things? Of course people were watching, and listening, when Paul and Gwenn tried to weasel out of an official vote that they took Sept 30.
Does this really surprise anyone?
Cannot rely on developer provided data and “Rutgers” study. Has anyone provided have data/input re: Ridgewood Water Dept’s water and sewer capacity for high density units????
“We will look back upon this current Council and wonder why they destroyed this town.” Exactly. The council members are shocked, just shocked when people allege they must have some ulterior motive because it is so obvious to most of us that their decisions are not in the best interest of this town.
The 600+ people who fought to save the CBD on September 30 will be back on December 9. No one intends to take this bullshit lying down. Aronsohn and Hauck are out and out liars. Terrible
Hauck told a person on Facebook to “check her numbers” when the person posted that there were 500 people in attendance. Apparently only Hauck knows the true headcount.
Either she is lying or incompetent. She had 6 weeks to figure out what happened. Are we to believe in one of the most dramatic meetings ever she forgot or was confused. Seriously? Are we to believe she didn’t have any conversations about that meeting and the results of that meeting? Unbelievable!! Dirty politics… These people need to be removed, I don’t think we should play nice anymore.
@10:00 – I think that’s one of the most important factors here. We had Stage 4 water restrictions this year, just like last year, just like the year before that…all because the storage capacity is not sufficient for us to both water our lawns and fight fires. So what happens when we add several hundred apartments? What are Stage 5 restrictions – water company employees going door to door with buckets to collect from everybody?
Seems if Hauck had a brain she may take it out to play.
You get the government you voted for. Just remember all of this, along with what they did to the Schedler and Habernickel neighborhoods, when casting your vote next year. Don’t be swayed by their bullshit about having kept tax increases low.

Hauck is telling people to check their numbers? Oh boy, this is rich! She cannot multiply 4 X 25. That was too much for her. And she calculated that a meeting that went from 7:30 – 2:30 was nine hours long. Yep, Gwenn, you go ahead and tell others to check their numbers.
Wait – she also said that the garage would pay for itself! Do you think that she might have been wrong???
Hauck wrong? What are you suggesting 4:31??? Gwenn is always right, she loves our village, she strives to hear all three sides of a coin, she crunches all numbers until they do not add up, she fractures the king’s English, she speaks in total nonsensical sentences. She is always right. She is on our side.
Did Councilwoman Hauck graduate from RHS? If so, the school should immediately be downgraded. She cannot read, write, speak, nor do simple math.
Now we can’t even trust a council vote because maybe they didn’t mean it or were confused or tired or forgetful or hoping we didn’t notice.
So if we can’t trust this vote, why do we have to trust the vote that put these three bozos in office? Why do we have to trust the vote that put Roberta in her position. Are they for real saying that vote was not legit? Aaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhh…..
Make rules, break rules. take votes, ignore votes. It’s all in a day’s work for these four (A-P-H-S)
