Ridgewood NJ, the word is Ridgewood Board of Education is set to appoint the new Interim Superintendent, Dr. Leonard D. Fitts at Monday’s public meeting.
Dr. Fitts has an Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. in Administration and Finance from Drexel University, an M.Ed. in Administration and Counseling from Tuskegee University, and a B.S. in Science and Mathematics from Tuskegee University. He served on many occasions as interim superintendent.

Fitts has worked in school districts for over 40 years as a school psychologist, principal and county superintendent and served as interim superintendent in the Mahwah, Burlington City, West Berlin, Glassboro, Camden , Willingboro public school districts and is currently serving the Moorestown Public School District ,which expires June 30th.
The appointment is effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. Dr. Fitts will be present at Monday evening’s board meeting.

Rent a superintendent. He retired in 96. At 79 yrs old he focuses on short term assignments earning ~$1k per day.
The old guard isn’t going to like it that a person of color is going to be calling the shots.

Wow! Kudos to the residents and staff members for expressing themselves to the Board early in the Board Meeting! Although some of them were WRONG about budget cuts. But good for them for speaking .
As for the topic of “Superintendent of Schools, approves the authorization for the Superintendent to hire employees during the summer months for existing positions with the approval of two Board members.”, Holy Cow! Most of the Board can’t recall what was said in this meeting called an “FYI”!? Most of the Board doesn’t understand what was written and allowed in the budget?! If a Board member doesn’t remember or can’t understand what is in an “FYI” or budget, how are they competent to do their job?! Why does the Board President bully the other members to make a choice?! Aren’t they supposed to come to a compromise and NOT be bullied to make a decision? What a great example they set.
How do we get Mr. Mahmoud to become Board President? HE is communicating to the staff about HOW do we resolve issues! Do we create a mutiny? Do we storm the Board Office? Can we impeach this current Board President because of LACK of problem solving WITH STAFF and RESIDENTS? I mean, the crowd applauses when Mr. Mahmoud and Ms. Townes DISCUSS topics!?!? This is how WE RESOLVE ISSUES. An ORGANIZED discussion! Mr. Mahmoud for PRESIDENT! Even applause for Ms. Brogan and Ms. Townes and Mr. Gorman when they spoke later about “breakage”/hiring. I hear NO APPLAUSE for the other 3 Board members….. Hmmmmmmmmmm…..
