Ridgewood Council candidates make final push

MAY 8, 2014    LAST UPDATED: THURSDAY, MAY 8, 2014, 2:43 PM

For several weeks this spring, Jim Albano, Susan Knudsen and Michael Sedon worked to meet and greet as many Ridgewood residents as possible during their pushes for political office. On Tuesday, each will learn whether they won over enough voters during their campaigns.

On May 13, the village’s registered voters will be asked to select two of the three candidates to fill vacancies on the five-member Ridgewood Council. Each seat on the governing body carries a four-year term.

Since declaring their intention to seek office, each candidate addressed their opinions on the various issues: The Valley Hospital expansion, downtown multifamily housing, property taxes, improved village services, and the future development of the Schedler property, among other areas (see previous issues of The Ridgewood News for those opinions).

The Ridgewood News asked each candidate to submit a final personal statement for publication, all of which follow here, based on alphabetical order. (Darius Amos)

  1. Mr. Sedon’s recent mailing to ALL Village addresses was a good one.
It gave a clear understanding of where and how he plans to “get it done”.
He reminds the voters of how his background meets their expectations of a qualified Councilman.
Please add your name to those that plan to vote for MIKE. Thanks. DOM.

  2. Vote for MIKE. Let’s return to sane government. MIKE is the one

  3. Albano will not win!

  4. I LIKE MIKE

  5. I received Mike’s flier in the mail. very impressive. I just want to know who is the old guy with his hand on Mike shoulder? Who much does that man charge to haunt a house?

  6. That’s DOM the self proclaimed Mayor of Roberts St and all around know it all. Yes he is older then DIRT.

  7. Knudsen and Sedon for Ridgewood. Met both at a coffee and they worked well together. They were both informed and very professional.

  8. who is DOM and what’s the importance of Roberts St?

  9. #8 want to meet “Dom” …
just go to 617 Robert St. …. and meet him… he has been there since 1948 and he may have a mother’s day flower for you. No kidding.
PS: Dom is the oldest original owner in that section of 450 houses built at that time “Ridgewood Lawns”……….. Happy Mother’s Day. ……….. see ya.

  10. Like I said. Who is DOM??

  11. “Just go to 617 Robert St” Said the spider to the fly.

  12. Did anyone get a price on how much he charges to haunt a house?

  13. Dom is one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet. Just because one person on this blog has some kind of disagreement with him does not make Dom a bad guy. This person who makes such nasty and snide comments incessantly is exhausting and incredibly disrespectful. Yes, like Dom said, if you go by his house he likely WILL give you some flowers, he is very generous and friendly.

Thank you, Dom, for all your thoughtful comments and for all that you have done for Ridgewood over the years. Don’t let one idiot get you down.

  14. Where do the candidates stand on cutting property taxes and asking for concessions in the next round of CBAs later this year and next ?
