Survey results recently returned by North Walnut Street residents indicated that speeding vehicles are a concern in front of their homes, but certain preventative measures such as a double yellow line in the middle of the road would be an unwelcomed solution. The Ridgewood Council, however, will instead opt for a partial, single yellow line added to the street on a trial basis.

The single line, commonly known as a “tail,” will be painted from the stop bar at the street’s stop intersections and extend for approximately 50 feet. Similar lines already exist at those stop intersections, but those are shorter in length and fading.

  1. I realize the police cannot be everywhere but just where are they? Traffic enforcement in the village is a joke.

  2. They should be ticketing on E. Ridgewood Ave from Paramus border to Pleasant Ave. Speeds along that stretch of road are really excessive.

  3. #2 – take a drive on E. Glen between Maple and Rt 17. It’s a speedway (and it goes past 2 schools)

  4. I live on this street. No survey was given but a letter stating the town’s recommendation of double line was sent and then we were asked to respond. Also, no mention in article that after a speed check monitor was placed and reviewed that 80 percent of traffic was speeding. I have never seen anyone pulled over for speeding.

  5. Try Linwood. It’s the Daytona 500 course. This is what happens when people are speeding to and from the hospital.

  6. And most of them aren’t having heart attacks or about to give birth, either.
