Concerns and comments on the future of the currently unused Schedler property should be directed to Ridgewood’s governing body, Councilman Tom Riche recently said, and all residents’ remarks will be considered when the council finally begins its formal discussions regarding future use of the land.

The council has not indicated when it will start those conversations, though chatter on the topic at public meetings has become increasingly prevalent.

At a council meeting in October, Riche encouraged residents to pose Schedler questions to the council after he met and consulted with the Ridgewood Historic Preservation Committee. His request also came on the heels of demands made earlier last month by Schedler neighbors.

At least two Ridgewood residents attending an Oct. 9 council meeting adamantly opposed the most recent schematics for a baseball diamond and multi-purpose playing field suggested for the densely wooded 7-plus acre parcel. The pair petitioned the governing body to reject the site recommendations filed last year by the Open Space Committee.
