Ridgewood NJ, A Volkswagen Routan and Nissan Versa collided at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Bellair Road in Ridgewood on Friday afternoon injuring a child passenger of the Routan and the Versa’s driver. Air bags deployed in both crash vehicles.
Ridgewood PD, EMS, and FD units all responded to the scene. Both victims were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and both vehicles were towed from the scene by flatbed tow truck.
A minor fluid spill resultant from the crash was handled by FD personnel. FD personnel also disconnected the batteries of both crash vehicles to reduce the risk of fire hazard. The victims’ injuries were not considered life threatening. One summons was issued by the investigating police officer, Ridgewood PD Patrol Officer Patrick Elwood.
Ridgewood Police Chief John M. Ward (blue long sleeved shirt with dark tie in photos) arrived first at the scene, and provided first aid and comfort to the injured child prior to the response of ambulance personnel.

This is precisely where a young women driver heading east on Bellair not many months ago did not stop at the stop sign at Ackerman and a truck couldn’t stop in time, and hit her. Same situation? Is the stop sign not visible enough?
I think that woman eventually died from her injuries, not sure.
The woman who died was a pedestrian struck at Doremus and Ackerman.
