RIDGEWOOD — Officials have identified three potential locations for a new municipal garage, Deputy Mayor Al Pucciarelli said.

Otherwise known as Ridgewood’s fleet services building, the municipal garage has been deemed outdated and inefficient.

Pucciarelli has urged the Village Council to consider selling the building’s 2-acre lot and fund construction of a new facility with the proceeds.

Officials have determined that a garage would be built over 10,000 to 12,000 square feet, with a 900-square-foot outdoor area where about 30 village vehicles — mostly trucks — could be parked.

A new facility would also need a large gasoline tank and pump, as well as a dome for salt storage.

  1. What a bunch of morons. The area behind the fire house is a major flood zone, Glen Rock would not be appreciative of the additional truck traffic and noise, and the DOT has already told us they’re not interested in giving up any of their property on Franklin Turnpike. Are they all asleep up their on the dais or what?

    1. #1 – the flood zone is a ridiculous location – 2 major floods in the past 15 years. You think Village Hall is in a bad location? Let’s put fuel, salt and heavy equipment in a flood area.

Didn’t the council just visit that area after the last flood and say they are trying to help the people who live there? This is not helping. Making more of the area impervious isn’t helping, in fact it can only worsen the flooding in the area and then downstream.

  2. If it floods and the salt goes in the river, then perhaps the state can stock the brook with clams & lobsters instead of trout. Yummy!

  3. Look who is pushing for this. ” BIG AL TH DEVELOPERS FRIEND” He must have a plan for Village Garage property. The Redevelopment Zone must be involved.

  4. keep the dam garage at it’s spot and fix the building up.yes it’s old, but it can be repaired. al stop it. you council should be fixing what we have now.

  5. ” BIG AL TH DEVELOPERS FRIEND” can’t stop. He has plans.

  6. I think Al is cute. I like his sweaters and the why he wraps his arms around himself when he speaks.

  7. If the council is thinking about moving or closing the garage why would we be putting a brand new lift in the upper garage ? I hear its cost is over 70 thousand. And you wonder why their broke. On crazy decision after another.
