Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School New Players shone brightly at the Montclair Theatre Night Foxy Awards, on Tuesday, May 16, a prestigious event recognizing excellence in New Jersey high school and middle school theatre. The New Players’ highly acclaimed production of “The Wolves” by Sarah DeLappe, which had garnered an impressive eight nominations, ultimately clinched two of the night’s most coveted honors: Best Actress and Outstanding Production of a Play.
The Foxy Awards, hosted by Montclair State University as part of their Theatre Night Awards, saw fierce competition this year, with more than 100 high schools and 19 middle schools vying for recognition. Ridgewood High School New Players stood out among the best, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication within its program.
Rising star Mary Ann Wright was honored with the Best Actress award for her compelling performance in “The Wolves.” Her portrayal captivated audiences and judges alike, solidifying her status as a standout talent in high school theatre.
In a testament to the collective efforts of the cast, crew, and artistic team, Ridgewood High School New Players Director Kelly Van Zile was also awarded Outstanding Production of a Play. This significant win celebrates the exceptional quality, artistic vision, and collaborative spirit that brought “The Wolves” to life on stage.
