Village of Ridgewood Alert: Sanitation Changes, Holiday Closures, and New Parking Rules

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, With freezing temperatures and lingering snow making backyards treacherous, the Village of Ridgewood has issued an important update regarding sanitation services and holiday schedules. Whether you’re a commuter or a homeowner, here is everything you need to know for the week of February 10, 2026.

⚠️ Important: Move Your Trash to the Curb

To ensure the safety of our sanitation crews during the current cold snap, rear-yard collection is officially suspended until further notice.

What you need to do:

  • Place all trash and recycling containers at the curb (not in the street).

  • Limited space? If snowbanks are blocking your curb, please place your containers on your driveway apron.

  • When will it end? Residents will be notified via email, the My Ridgewood app, and the Village website as soon as it is safe to resume backyard pickup.

🗓️ Holiday Closures: February 12 & 16

Village offices (excluding emergency services) will be closed in observance of the upcoming holidays. Please note there will be no garbage or recycling collection on these days:

  1. Thursday, February 12: Lincoln’s Birthday

  2. Monday, February 16: Presidents’ Day

Note: The Ridgewood Recycling Center will also be closed on these dates.

🚗 New: Expanded Parking at Station Plaza

Good news for shoppers and evening commuters! The Station Plaza parking lot (located between the train station and the flagpole) has expanded its access hours.

Open Access Hours (With or Without Permit):

  • Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Saturday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (All-day access)

How to Pay: You can pay via the ParkMobile app, kiosk, or any valid resident/premium permit. Reminder: Between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM on weekdays, a Premium Parking Permit or Resident One-Day Permit is still required.

    1. If you got a job at a private carter you could do curbside.. at 1/2 the pay, 1/2 the benefits, No fixed income retirement plan at a young age.

  3. Well paid? Considering the average Ridgewood income I doubt it!

    1. Very well compensated . You can’t be serious with your comparison. Its the same energy to empty a trash can in Ridgewood, Waldwick or Monroe NY.
