Novelist Gwendolen Gross has lived in Ridgewood for almost 15 years and takes lots of notes about people she meets and places she goes. You might think you recognize yourself in one of her books.
You’re wrong; it isn’t you. But it might be your next-door neighbor.
Gross’ fifth novel, “When She Was Gone,” was released this week. Gross calls her books “realistic fiction” because she writes about people and places that seem familiar, at least on the surface. In fact, she occasionally gets complaints from family and friends who think they are in one of her books.
“My family always finds themselves in things that they’re not in, as opposed to things they are in,” she said.
